The Baltimore County Republican Party’s FAQs:

What is the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee (BCRCC)?

It is the local level of the Republican Party.  The Party has a hierarchy which operates on a national level (RNC), a statewide level (MDGOP), and on a county level (BCRCC).

When, where and how often does the BCRCC meet?

The local committee meets monthly on the second Monday at 7:00 PM.  These monthly meetings are held at the Days Inn Hotel on Deereco Road in Timonium and are open to the public.

Who is on the BCRCC and how did they get there?

The BCRCC is made up of 28 members and a Chairman.  Republican voters elect the members to four-year terms during the Gubernatorial Primary Election.  Four members are elected from each of Baltimore County’s seven Councilmanic Districts and the Chairman is elected at-large countywide.  Any citizen may run for central committee in the district in which they reside.  Each Member also chooses an Alternate, which is another opportunity for community citizens to get involved in the party.  Members are listed on the BCRCC’s website.

What are the duties of the County Republican Party?

The BCRCC is responsible for grassroots organization on the local level.  That involves creating and supporting local Republican clubs in Baltimore County, precinct organization, voter registration drives, recruitment of candidates, support of Republican elected officials, fundraising, and communication with registered Republicans within the county and with the community at-large.

What type of candidate recruitment is accomplished and what support is given to elected officials?

Our job is to get Republicans elected and keep them in office.  We are responsible for filling all offices on the ballot on behalf of the Republican Party.  Many times recruitment comes from citizens expressing interest in running for office directly, or indirectly through the committee.  The BCRCC works with all candidates prior to the Primary Election and with the party nominee afterward.  We support, at various levels, all Republican elected officials, federal, state and local, in many ways.

Who funds all of this activity?

The BCRCC has several fundraisers to support our activities during the year.  We are self-funded and do not take any government grants or taxpayer money.  All monetary activities are reported to the State Board of Elections in the same manner as candidates report income and expense.

If I give money to the BCRCC what happens with my donation?

Your donation stays 100% right here in Baltimore County.  We are an all-volunteer group and have very limited overhead.  Your dollars go directly to party-building activities, plus to our candidates, elected officials and local clubs.

How do I become active with the party?

You can visit any of the Republican Clubs countywide or the BCRCC monthly meeting.  We are always looking for activists and for new club members.  You can also contact your local BCRCC members or the Chairman and ask questions.  Don’t forget to check out the website also.
